EPA commemorates their 50th Anniversary
50 years ago, on December 2, 1970, Richard Nixon established the United States Environmental Protect Agency (EPA) to protect the public health and the environment from the prevalent and increasing pollution that was putting our lives at risk.
During the year of 2020, EPA commemorated the agency’s achievements culminating in the 50th Anniversary celebration on Dec. 2, 2020. For the final day of the year celebration, the agency inaugurated the "Ruckelshaus Conference Center" in honor of EPA’s first administrator, the late William D. Ruckelshaus.
